Unusual Fairlawn, New Jersey Pottery Pig Birth Bank, Dated June 26, 1947, Scottish or American origin, 1947, figure of a standing pig with heavily-carved body, incised with the inscription "ELLEN JEEN BARRY / GEB 26 JUNI 1947 / FAIRLAWN NEW.JERSEY". Surface covered in a brown, green, and blue glaze. Made in Scotland or in the Scottish style at a New Jersey pottery. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a sixty-year private collection. Excellent condition with minor wear to slot and one ear. Some staining to underside. L 6 1/2".
