Fine Small-Sized Vertical-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Watch Spring Decoration, Manhattan or New Jersey origin, mid 18th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied vertical handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a slip-trailed watch spring motif. Brushed cobalt stripe below rim and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable size, form, and decoration. Provenance: Property of a New York State collector. Very nice condition with some exfoliation to interior, some light exfoliation to underside, a base chip, and an in-the-firing surface line to one handle. H 7 1/4".
