Four-Gallon Rondout, NY Stoneware Advertising Crock with Cobalt Chicken-Pecking-Corn Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Light cobalt highlights to advertising and capacity mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term private collection. Water glass staining to surface. Chips on interior of rim. Two small surface chips to interior.
