Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Apple Motif, Dated "1853", Stamped "JORDAN", possibly Justen McBurney & Son, Jordan, NY, 1853, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a branch holding an apple. Slip-trailed with the date, "1853", to left of decoration, along with a script "2". A desirable Jordan motif. Excellent condition with light wear to cobalt and a small worn spot on reverse.
