Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "S.L. PEWTRESS / NEW HAVEN, CONN.", circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with tall flaring collar and tooled rim molding, decorated with an abstract slip-trailed foliate motif accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 1 1/2" rim chip. A minor nick at base of handle. A 3 1/4" line from rim. A very minor, 1/2" surface line in rim. An in-the-firing in Albany slip on interior, not visible on exterior. Some extremely minor wear to spout and rim molding.
