Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of two large flower blossoms emanating from a stem with scrolled leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some light wear to surface on front. A small band of surface wear near base on side of jug. A 1" base chip and several other tiny base chips. A semi-circular line to underside.
