Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Towanda, PA Advertising and Elaborate Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to the White's Pottery, Binghamton, NY, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird with heavily-detailed body, perched on a leafy branch. Impressed with the advertising, "FROM / H. WANGLES / DEALER IN / WINES & LIQUORS / TOWANDA. PA." Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and advertising. Restored handle. Restoration to base. Some fry to cobalt.
