Unusual Lidded Redware Jar with Marbled Glaze, Northeastern U.S. origin, first half 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, and flared rim, the surface decorated with marbled slip daubs and covered in a lead glaze over a mottled orange ground. Includes original domed lid with tooled banding, glazed in the same fashion. Jar with a Y-shaped hairline on underside, continuing 1" onto base, a 1" chipped section to rim, and other minor rim wear. Lid with small edge chips, two tiny flakes to surface (probably in-the-firing), and some exfoliation to knob. H (including lid) 8".
