Glazed Redware Figure of a Dog, Pennsylvania origin, possibly Chester County, circa 1850-1880, hand-modeled figure of a dog with poodle cut and collar, holding a basket in its mouth, decorated with an impressed flower blossom. Base with incised and impressed floral design. Surface decorated with sponged manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from an eighty-year private collection. Significant restoration to base. Restoration to tail and handles of basket. Some typical light surface wear. L 5" ; H 4 3/8".
