Glazed Redware Spaniel Bank, attributed to George Wagner, Carbon County, PA, late 19th century, molded in the form of a seated spaniel with impressed eyes and locket, incised muzzle, and applied coleslaw mane and tail tip. Surface decorated with streaks of copper and manganese over an orange ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. Carved slot in dog's back. Provenance: Robert Meltzer Collection. Excellent overall condition with some typical small losses to coleslaw. H 6 1/2".
