Possibly Unique Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Inscribed "Octo. 15th 1841 / Doubtful", Signed "W.B. Edmands / 1841", Charlestown, MA, 1841, small-sized, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout and Albany-slip-glazed surface, incised in script at the shoulder, "Octo. 15th 1841 / Doubtful", and on the underside, "W.B. Edmands / 1841". This jug is the only example of hand-signed example of Edmands stoneware we have seen. A long, tight Y-shaped line on side of jug. A small spout chip. Some in-the-firing chipping to bottom edge. H 8 1/2".
