Two-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "HARRINGTON & BURGER / ROCHESTER / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1852-1854, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles, featuring a slip-trailed design of a central, well-detailed leaf, flanked by two cobalt-highlighted leaves. Slip-trailed "2" at shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Includes original salt-glazed lid. Jar in very nice condition with a 1 1/4" flake to interior of rim and a minor in-the-firing chip to exterior of rim. Lid with two hairlines and shallow chipping to edge.
