Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Wreath Surrounding the Initial "M", Eastern U.S. origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with the brushed initial, "M", surrounded by a floral wreath. Cobalt highlights to capacity mark. Jar is out-of-round. A 1 5/8" rim chip. A 5" Y-shaped surface line to reverse, not visible on interior. A spider crack on underside, continuing 5 1/2" up side of jar from base. A few large, in-the-firing chips to underside at edge.
