Rare and Fine Miniature Stoneware Jug with Incised X Inscription and Cobalt Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring four incised X's above graduated cobalt stripes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. The X inscription on this piece suggests it was used as a personal liquor jug. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a thin in-the-firing contact mark at base. H 5 1/4".
