Extremely Rare Three-Quart Stoneware Presentation Pitcher with Incised Floral Decoration, Inscribed "Robert Loudon / 1893 / Growler", attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, 1893, ovoid pitcher with tooled rim, featuring the finely-incised and cobalt-highlighted inscription, "Robert Loudon / 1893 / Growler", flanked on each side by an incised flowering vine. Decorated above with a brushed cobalt vine bearing three flowers, along with additional vining below the rim. Reverse decorated with cobalt tulips in the Remmey style emanating from the base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A fine example of Remmey presentation stoneware, featuring a highly-unusual reference to the pitcher's use as a "Growler". Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 9 3/4".
