Glazed Redware Spittoon with Impressed Eagle Motif, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, molded, scallop-edged spittoon with semi-circular opening at shoulder, the surface decorated with streaked mamganese and covered in a heavy lead glaze. Underside impressed with John Bell maker's mark above an impressed Federal eagle. Two rim chips and two minor rim nicks. A minor fleck of glaze loss to body. Some typical wear and in-the-firing contact marks to underside. H 4 7/8" ; Length 8 3/4".
