Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "JNO. CALDWELL & SONS. / ST. CLAIR, PA", circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled signature, "JNO. CALDWELL & SONS. / ST. CLAIR, PA", surrounding a freehand number 2 and applied over slip-coated clay. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with three minor in-the-firing pings to interior of rim.
