Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, attributed to the Crolius Family, Manhattan, NY origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower with scalloped leaves and open-centered blossom. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Appealing design. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A 1 3/8" in-the-firing chip / contact mark to shoulder on reverse. A few other typical, in-the-firing flaws. Typical, minor base chips.
