Scarce Quart-Sized Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / STONEWARE / MANUFACTURER. / Manhattan Wells. / NEW-YORK.", circa 1815, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with cobalt daubs underscoring the maker's mark and cobalt highlights to the handle terminals. Exceptional size. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased decades ago by the consignor. Essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing salt residue to left side. H 8 1/4".
