Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG", Pennsylvania origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed stem bearing a tulip and graduated blossom. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Significant restoration to rim. A few shallow, unrestored chips to top of rim. Some light fry to cobalt.
