Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a brushed hanging floral motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals, maker's mark, and capacity mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which descended in a Michigan family. A rim chip on reverse. Some minor wear to cobalt. Water glass residue to interior. A short, minor in-the-firing separation on underside, not visible on interior.
