Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cluster of grapes hanging from a stem between a corkscrewing vine and leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Very nice condition. A 3/4" shallow chip and two tiny nicks to interior of rim. Shallow chips to inner rim where a lid would rest.
