Five-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "P.H. SMITH", Springfield Township, Summit County, Ohio, mid 19th century, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout and two applied handles, decorated with a brushed design of a tulip. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent condition with two in-the-firing contact marks, one of which is recessed, minor base chips, a tiny spout chip, and some traces of old gold paint to handle areas. H 19 1/2".
