Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Face Decoration, Midwestern origin, probably Ohio, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a folky slip-trailed profile of a man's face below a script number 2. A sealed 6 1/2" crack on left side of crock, which continues downward, forming a large X across underside. Some light staining.
