Rare Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Centennial Date, Stenciled "A.P. Donaghho, / Parkersburg, W. Va", 1876, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, featuring the rare vertically-stenciled date "1876" beside diagonal A.P. Donaghho maker's stenciling. This jar is the first example of Donaghho stoneware we have offered bearing a stenciled date. Y-shaped hairline at base, which continues downward, forming a second Y on underside. A 1 1/4" base chip on reverse. A 3/4" rim chip adjacent to a minor 5/8" line on top of rim. An additional minor nick to interior of rim. H 8".
