Rare Glazed Redware Hunt Scene Pitcher, Stamped "JOHN BELL", Waynesboro, PA origin, circa 1840-1880, molded pitcher with twig-form handle, decorated on two sides with a relief design of hounds overtaking a stag and boar. Relief grape vine decoration at shoulder. Surface decorated with sponged manganese over a yellow clay ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. A 2 1/2" area of restoration to rim. Typical light wear. A 2 1/2" area of restoration at base on reverse. Typical all-over light wear to glaze. A chip to one knot near base of twig handle. H 7 3/4".
