Rare Glazed Redware Jug, attributed to Jacob Medinger, Limerick Township, Montgomery County, PA, early 20th century, squat-shaped, handleless jug with incised wavy line design around shoulder and sponged manganese decoration over a mottled olive and orange clay ground. This highly unusual form may have been used as a "buggy jug" or footwarmer. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a Pennsylvania collection amassed during the mid 20th century. Essentially as-made condition with a tiny spout nick and an in-the-firing 2" contact mark at base. H 6" ; Diameter (at base) 8 3/4".
