Rare Redware Bowl with Three-Color Glaze, Pennsylvania origin, circa 1850-1880, with semi-rounded rim, footed base, and coggled sawtooth pattern around rim. Interior coated in cream-colored slip and decorated with heavy marbled streaks of copper and manganese. Exterior with mottled manganese application. Surface covered in a clear glaze. The maker of this bowl is likely that of a distinctive group of flowerpots with similar glazing, made by an as-yet-unidentified potter in Pennsylvania. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a Pennsylvania collection amassed during the mid 20th century. Glaze wear to exterior of rim. Light glaze wear to interior. H 4 1/2" ; Diameter 9 1/2".
