Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO / MOUNT MORRIS", New York State origin, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a leaf below a freehand number 2. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Includes old wooden cover. A tight, minor surface line in underside, not visible on interior. Two small rim chips. A small chip and minor nick to inner rim where a lid would rest. A glazed-over iron ping to base. Some staining to surface.
