Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "VAN SCHOIK & DUNN / Makers / Middletown Point, NJ", circa 1855, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-stemmed tulip plant design. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. An inverted 4" Y-shaped surface line on left side of front, not visible on interior. A 1 1/2" rim chip on reverse. A minor nick on interior of rim.
