Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Presentation Jar, Inscribed "Mary", probably J.M. Pruden, Elizabethtown, NJ, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, inscribed "Mary" in bold cobalt slip on one side. Reverse inscribed "1", flanked by wavy lines. Desirable small size. Excellent condition with a 2 1/4" vertical in-the-firing surface line at base, not visible on interior.
