Two Quart-Sized Stoneware Jars with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to R.J. Grier, Mt. Jordan Pottery, Chester County, PA, circa 1880, both of cylindrical form with tooled shoulders and squared rims, each decorated with foliate brushwork around the shoulder. Shorter jar in excellent condition with a smooth, glazed-over chip on exterior of rim, a small chip on interior, and a tiny nick on interior of rim. Taller jar with a 2 1/4" hairline from rim, a shallow chip to top of rim, and a small nick to exterior of rim. H (of shorter jar) 6 5/8".
