Two-Gallon Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to the Crolius Family, Manhattan, NY, late 18th or early 19th century, highly-ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a cobalt foliate motif in the Manhattan style, with added stripes to the interior of the leaves. Cobalt drape design under each handle. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A spider crack with some exfoliation and a sliver-shaped chip on one side. Some tight surface lines to side of jar, not visible on interior and probably in-the-firing. Base chips. Small rim chips.
