One-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK", circa 1815, ovoid jug with nicely-formed spout including heavy tooling below, the shoulder impressed with the maker's mark of Clarkson Crolius, Sr., surrounded by cobalt dashes. Cobalt highlight to lower handle terminal. Spattered dark-colored kiln residue on reverse. Lightly-incised initials or number, possibly "90", on right side of jug's front. Lightly-incised on reverse with a "W". Includes wooden stopper. Base wear. A shallow glazed-over spout chip. A minor, tiny line in spout. Two minor nicks to molding at midsection of spout. An iron ping near base.
