One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG PA", circa 1865, cylindrical jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed drooping tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Excellent color. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Very nice condition with only minor flaws. A tiny nick on interior of rim, a minor base chip, a short faint surface line to underside, a short surface line at base on reverse, and a minor nick to end of one handle.
