Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1860, semi-ovoid jar with tooled midsection and flared rim, decorated with a flowering vine featuring graduated leaves, brushed between two freehand stripes. Impressed number 2 on reverse. Very nice condition with a tight Y-shaped hairline on underside, continuing up left side of jar in two places, measuring 1 and 2 1/2" from base.
