Unusual Large-Sized Stoneware Spittoon With Cobalt Floral Decoration and Rockingham-Glazed Surface, Northeastern U.S. origin, probably New Jersey, second half 19th century, with footed base and carved oval opening, decorated with two brushed floral motifs featuring circular blossoms flanked by fern-shaped designs. Top surface with unusual orange and brown Rockingham glaze. In-the-firing contact marks and clay residue to top edge. H 6 1/2" ; Diameter 10 3/4".
