Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT", circa 1855, cylindrical crock with flattened rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering daisy plant with dash-accented blossom. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 6" crack on underside, extending 5 1/2" up reverse of crock. A 3" line on underside. A 1 1/4" hairline from rim. A faint, approximately 2 1/2" line to shoulder on front. A few minor nicks. Some staining, primarily on reverse.
