Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO. / BENNINGTON, VT.", circa 1855, large-sized, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed floral spray featuring a flower blossom, leaves, and dotted trails. Excellent size and color to decoration. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A small stone ping to front and a small in-the-firing contact mark to side of jug. Some scratches to left side of jug's front. A few very short, minor lines at base. H 17 1/2".
