Two Unusual Small-Sized Stoneware Baker's Jars with New York City Advertising, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, the smaller example with Albany-slip-glazed surface, impressed "A. CASTIGLIONI. BAKER / 181 CHARLES ST", the larger example with salt-glazed surface, impressed "MILLIKEN'S HOME BAKERY / 92 WALDEN ST". Smaller jar with 4" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on reverse. Larger jar with a smooth 1" base chip on reverse, probably in-the-firing, and some surface residue. H (of smaller jar) 4 1/2".
