Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "M. & T. MILLER / NEWPORT, PA", circa 1870, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, the front decorated with three large brushed tulips emanating from fanned leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Desirable Central PA maker with strong decoration. Excellent condition with only a few in-the-firing flaws, including an in-the-firing contact mark with two small associated chips to top of spout, an extremely minor in-the-firing chip to side of handle, and a 1 5/8" salt drip to reverse.
