Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Wreath Decoration, Stamped "BURGER & CO. / ROCHESTER N.Y.", circa 1875, semi-ovoid churn with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a wreath with bow at base, surrounding the number "6". Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. The impression "BURGER & CO." is inverted on this example. A faint 3 1/2" X-shaped line on underside, not visible on interior. A 1 1/4" rim chip on reverse. Some light wear to cobalt. H 19".
