Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Game Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. BURGER JR. / ROCHESTER, NY", circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a game bird with turned head and well-detailed body, standing on a stylized ground with floral motif. Slip-trailed "4" to right of maker's mark. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent condition with staining to surface and a small iron ping to left side.
