Two-Gallon "CUSHMAN & CO. / ALBANY" Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, New York State origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, the shoulder impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising "CUSHMAN, & CO. / IMPORTERS OF / WINES & C / 376 & 378 / BROADWAY / ALBANY". Decorated below with a slip-trailed foliate design composed of three conjoined leaves with striped interiors. Large X-shaped crack to shoulder, including a small reglued surface flake. A 6 1/2" crack to left of decoration with a 2 1/2" semi-circular line below. Some staining.
