Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "G. LENT / TROY", New York State origin, circa 1820, highly-ovoid form with tooled spout and heavily-ribbed handle, decorated with a distinctive slip-trailed flower with striped petals and scalloped leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. The cobalt design on this example is a slip-trailed rendition of Lent's classic incised floral motif. Some restoration to spout and shoulder area. Otherwise excellent, essentially as-made condition.
