Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "C S H / 1880", Stamped Twice "BROWN BROTHERS, / HUNTINGTON / L.I.", 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and lug handles, decorated with two flowers above the slip-trailed cobalt inscription "C S H" and date "1880". Light cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Additional Brown Brothers maker's mark and two-gallon capacity mark on reverse. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. Significant restoration to most of crock's surface, not affecting decoration, including a restored crack from rim on reverse. Two minor nicks to handle.
