Fine Glazed Redware Bowl with Three-Color Slip Decoration, Mid-Atlantic origin, 19th century, tapered bowl with rounded rim, the rim decorated with a wavy trail of cream-colored slip, the interior with alternating bands of green copper slip stripes and manganese sponging. Interior surface covered in a clear lead glaze. A beautifully-decorated example. Provenance: Ex-Richard Flanders Smith; Christie's Sale 8116, June 3, 1995, Lot #239. Some wear to glaze on interior, most noticeable to an area on shoulder. Chipping throughout edge of rim. H 4 1/4" ; Diameter 13".
