Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Triple-Tulip Decoration, Stamped "PFALTZGRAFF & CO. / YORK, PA," circa 1855-1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an elaborate brushed design of three tulips extending from a central stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Pfaltzgraff Pottery Archives, York, PA. Staining to surface. Some shallow chipping to one handle. A small, shallow chip to handle. Numerous rim chips. Some very minor wear to shoulder molding on reverse. Some exfoliation to underside.
