Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Slip-Trailed Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. & Co / ROCHESTER. N.Y.", circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout and applied handle, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a flower with heavily-striped petals and spotted, tubular center to blossom. Slip-trailed "2" above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A good example of the highly-artistic nature of Stetzenmeyer's work. Excellent condition with a 3/4" contact mark to left side and some typical light wear to cobalt.
