One-Gallon Shenandoah Valley Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Strasburg, VA origin, circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and rounded rim, decorated around the body with four groups of brushed swags. Collar decorated with a wavy cobalt stripe on each side and swags flanking the spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Restoration to collar, including a large, approximately 4 1/4" x 3" curved piece on right side, as well as restoration to rim above handle.
